What we need:
Digital Edge is seeking a highly experienced VP of Solutions Engineering to lead our regional solution engineering organization across APAC. This role will be responsible for establishing a best‑in‑class, end‑to‑end solutioning function that seamlessly integrates presales, technical architecture, solution governance, customer technical advocacy, and lifecycle continuity across hyperscale and enterprise customer journeys.
The ideal candidate is a strategic technical leader with deep data centre domain expertise, strong customer-facing acumen, and proven experience driving complex solutioning cycles across multi‑market environments. This leader will be the technical face of Digital Edge, driving clarity, solution consistency, and customer confidence while safeguarding the company’s standards, cost, and delivery feasibility.
This role will be based in Singapore.
Key responsibilities:
Organizational Leadership & Transformation
- Experience engaging at SVP/VP/C‑suite levels with hyperscale or global cloud providers.
- Own the APAC technical solutioning strategy and its alignment with the global platform operating model.
- Hold executive accountability for solution standards across all APAC and future expansion markets.
- Architect and execute a multi‑year transformation roadmap for Solutions Engineering across APAC, ensuring cohesion with global product, engineering, and commercial strategies.
- Build a high‑performance team with clearly defined competencies spanning discovery, solution design, technical negotiation, delivery oversight, and post‑sales engagement.
- Establish processes, tools, templates, and knowledge systems that ensure repeatability and global‑class solution governance.
- Develop career pathways, training frameworks, and succession planning for a multi‑market Solutions Engineering organization.
End‑to‑End Technical Leadership Across the Customer Journey
This leader ensures Solutions Engineers deliver excellence across all stages of Customer engagement:
Initial Engagement & Discovery
- Drive strong technical discovery and requirements capture across both hyperscale and enterprise customers.
- Ensure the team builds deep understanding of customer infrastructure, operational models, sustainability goals, and long-term roadmaps.
Solutioning & RFP Leadership
- Oversee the creation of technically robust, cost-optimal, and competitive solutions.
- Set standards for translating customer requirements into scalable design criteria aligned with platform capabilities.
- Ensure multidisciplinary collaboration with engineering, design, cost, commercial, and delivery teams.
Technical Negotiation & Contract Alignment
- Lead or support strategic technical negotiations with hyperscale and large enterprise customers.
- Ensure customer requests remain feasible, commercially sustainable, and aligned with platform standards.
- Oversee the accuracy and completeness of technical schedules and contract documentation.
Design Delivery Support
- Resolve escalations across engineering, construction, operations, and commercial teams at an executive level
- Serve as the organizational custodian of customer requirements through detailed design engineering phases.
- Ensure engineering teams receive clear, unambiguous requirements and context.
- Monitor design alignment with agreed technical intent.
Project Delivery & Implementation Alignment
- Provide customer‑facing technical continuity throughout delivery phases.
- Support Construction and Implementation teams in managing escalations, clarifications, and technical change control.
- Ensure customer expectations are aligned with delivery constraints.
Commissioning & RFS Support
- Oversee technical alignment during testing, commissioning, and service readiness.
- Serve as escalation point to Customer to ensure commissioning outcomes meet contractual and technical expectations.
Post‑RFS Expansion & Lifecycle Support
- Ensure consistent knowledge retention and long-term continuity for customer growth across markets.
- Build frameworks that allow Digital Edge to scale repeatable solutions without restarting the learning curve.
Technical Stewardship
- Act as executive technical leader for strategic accounts across the region.
- Lead technical forecasting discussions, risk assessments, and capacity expansion dialogues on strategic accounts.
Cross Functional Leadership
- Partner with Sales, Product, Construction & Delivery, Operations, Implementation, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment across the lifecycle: requirements scoping, solution design, RFP responses, customer presentations, site tours, and technical Q&A.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to validate feasibility, capacity, and cost structures for all solutions.
- Influence product roadmap and platform strategy based on customer insights and solution trends.
- Serve as executive approver for solution architecture in large/strategic hyperscale and multi‑market enterprise deals, ensuring margin integrity and commercial feasibility.
- Serve as the senior technical executive voice in cross‑functional portfolio reviews, investment committees, and executive steering groups.
Governance, Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Own final technical authority on solution exceptions, custom builds, and non-standard designs.
- Build and enforce the solution governance framework across all markets.
- Establish solution standards, templates, processes, and approval frameworks across all markets.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost optimization, and solution scalability.
Market & Technology Expertise
- Maintain deep expertise in data center design, M&E infrastructure, connectivity, cooling, power systems, and sustainability.
- Benchmark Digital Edge’s capabilities against regional competitors and global best practices.
- Identify innovation opportunities to enhance the value proposition.
- Represent Digital Edge at industry forums, technical councils, and sustainability/AI infrastructure consortiums.
- Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate:
- 15+ years of experience in data centre engineering, solution engineering, technical pre‑sales, or infrastructure architecture.
- Strong background in data centre M&E, power systems, cooling design, connectivity, and capacity planning, redundancy design, and data center operational standards.
- Proven experience engaging with hyperscale cloud and large enterprise customers at senior technical levels.
- Demonstrated leadership experience transforming and scaling regional or multinational engineering organizations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting complex RFP/RFQ processes with strong commercial acumen.
- Familiarity with TIA‑942, Uptime Institute standards, ISO frameworks, and sustainability / energy optimization.
- Preferably with relevant technical certifications (e.g., CDCDP, CDCE, PMP, Uptime ATS/TOP)
