What we need:
Reporting to Operations Engineering Director, this newly created role will lead engineering operations for mission-critical data centers across Asia. You’ll ensure the reliability and efficiency of mechanical, electrical, and control systems while driving sustainability and innovation.
Key responsibilities include overseeing preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and commissioning for new builds and retrofits, as well as acting as the primary point of contact for fit-out projects and customer customization requests.

- Direct and oversee day-to-day Operations Engineering activities across multiple data center facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Ensure continuous availability of critical infrastructure systems, including power, cooling, and associated support systems, to maintain 24x7 data center operations.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to enhance system reliability, resiliency, and operational performance.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and drive corrective and preventive action plans for critical incidents impacting data center reliability and availability.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to strengthen infrastructure resiliency and minimize operational risks.
- Conduct periodic site inspections, physical audits, and operational performance reviews to ensure compliance, reliability, and adherence to operational standards.
- Support operations teams in conducting infrastructure due diligence, system verification, and "pull-the-plug" testing to validate system integrity and resiliency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence, reliability, efficiency, sustainability, and cost optimization.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, and Construction teams to support new data center builds, capacity expansion projects, upgrades, and retrofit initiatives.
- Provide technical oversight and support for data hall fit-outs, as well as power and cooling infrastructure implementation projects.
- Participate in and provide technical leadership during Commissioning Level 4 and Level 5 activities.
- Review and provide technical oversight of design drawings and commissioning test procedures to ensure lessons learned are effectively captured.
- Review and approve method statements, technical procedures, and execution plans for major retrofit, upgrade, and infrastructure modification projects.
- Promote the adoption of industry best practices while ensuring compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and global operational guidelines.
- Partner with vendors and service providers to establish, validate, document, and maintain critical equipment settings and standards across all data center sites.
- Collaborate with Country Facility teams to evaluate and assess customer requests for infrastructure customization and operating environment variations for both existing and prospective customers.
The successful candidate:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mission-critical data center operations across APAC.
- Experience working in hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center environments.
- Knowledge in data center operations, commercials, construction capital projects strategy and supply chain management.
- Solid understanding of data center commissioning processes, including integrated systems testing and operational readiness activities.
- Knowledge and experience with liquid cooling technologies is highly desirable.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Mechanical and BMS, providing technical guidance across the organization.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical infrastructure, controls, monitoring systems, and operational best practices within data centers.
- Ability to review, assess, and optimize mechanical system performance to ensure reliability, efficiency, and resiliency of critical infrastructure.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and personal responsibility, with the ability to make independent decisions.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and geographies.
