What we need:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will be responsible for driving accounting quality and consistency across the Group. The role will provide financial accounting leadership to country finance teams, review country financials before they flow into Group consolidation and ensure consistent application of Group accounting policies and accounting treatments across all entities. The role will also oversee the holding company accounting team and Group-wide AR governance.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the review and challenge of country financial results before submission into Group consolidation, including detailed balance sheet and P&L reviews, significant movements, unusual transactions and accounting issues.
- Drive consistent application of Group accounting policies and accounting treatments across all countries and entities.
- Identify differences in accounting practices across countries and work with country finance teams to align accounting treatment across the Group.
- Provide day-to-day accounting guidance and support to country finance teams and act as a key escalation point for accounting and close-related matters.
- Identify new, complex or judgmental accounting matters and work with the Consolidation & Group Reporting team to determine and document the appropriate technical accounting position.
- Ensure technical accounting conclusions and Group accounting policies are appropriately implemented across all relevant entities.
- Establish consistent month-end close and accounting practices across the Group, including minimum standards for reconciliations, supporting schedules, review and sign-off.
- Review the quality and completeness of balance sheet reconciliations and drive resolution of long-outstanding, unsupported or material reconciling items.
- Review significant accruals, provisions, fixed assets, CIP, leases and other material balance sheet areas.
- Review the profitability and financial performance of individual data centers, including performance through to the P&L bottom line.
- Oversee Group-wide AR, including aging, collections, overdue balances, provisioning and escalation of significant collection issues.
- Develop Group-level AR reporting and drive accountability with country finance teams for collection performance.
- Lead the holding company close and oversee the holding company accounting and AP team.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, close efficiency and overall quality of financial reporting.
The successful candidate:
- Qualified accountant (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Approximately 10–15 years of relevant financial accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and practical application of accounting standards.
- Strong experience in financial close, balance sheet management and financial statement review.
- Strong understanding of fixed assets, capex/CIP, leases, accruals, provisions and other key balance sheet areas.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify accounting issues through review of financial statements and trial balances.
- Hands-on, practical and comfortable operating in a growing organization where processes are still developing.
