What we need:
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Design Delivery Manager with a strong electrical/mechanical engineering background to lead the design and delivery process for our data centre projects across the APAC region. This leadership role is responsible for managing the successful implementation of the overall design, with particular focus on mechanical systems such as HVAC, chilled water systems, and liquid cooling readiness.
The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally to ensure the electrical/mechanical design is integrated effectively into the full MEP design and executed in line with project objectives, quality standards, and schedule commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical/Mechanical Design Leadership:
Drive the mechanical design development, including HVAC, cooling distribution systems, chilled water plants, and white space air management, ensuring alignment with performance, efficiency, and operational goals; Contribute to initializing cooling plant or various equipment standard operating procedures (SOPs) and producing clear, comprehensive technical advice to support technical review process across different manufacturers.
- End-to-End Design Delivery:
Oversee the delivery of the full data centre design scope—from concept to IFC—ensuring technical quality, timely execution, and alignment with customer and business requirements. - Integrated Design Management:
Lead coordination across disciplines—mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, structural, and security—to ensure seamless integration of the design.
- Consultant and Vendor Management:
Manage design consultants and key vendors, reviewing deliverables and resolving technical challenges to ensure compliance and constructability.
- Design Assurance & Technical Reviews:
Conduct design reviews and risk assessments to validate that mechanical systems meet internal requirements, regulatory standards, and operational best practices.
- Documentation & Standardization:
Maintain and improve internal design guidelines, technical specifications, and standard details to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
- Construction & Commissioning Support:
Interface with construction and commissioning teams to ensure mechanical systems are installed and tested as per design intent. Review and validate the Sequence of Operations (SOO) during T&C.
- Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed on industry trends and evolving cooling technologies (e.g. liquid cooling, hybrid solutions) to drive innovation and future-proof our designs.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate design concepts, progress updates, and risks effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and senior management.
- Mentoring Process
Contributes to mentoring junior team members and supports the identification and development of training programs for new team members as the team grows.
Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering studies or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical/mechanical system design and delivery, with at least 3 years in hyperscale or colocation data centres.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, chilled water, free cooling, and white space environmental control.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint; Revit or BIM coordination experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to manage consultants and lead design integration across disciplines.
- Familiar with APAC regional design codes and international standards (ASHRAE, ISO, etc.).
- Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Experience with liquid cooling or AI workload readiness is a plus.
