What we need:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will lead the Group's consolidation, financial reporting and technical accounting activities. The role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely Group reporting and providing technical accounting guidance on complex or non-routine matters. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to both review and perform consolidation and reporting activities where required.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual Group consolidation and reporting process.
- Review country submissions and consolidation adjustments, including intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translation and Group-level adjustments.
- Lead the assessment of complex or non-routine IFRS accounting matters and determine the appropriate Group accounting position.
- Prepare and review technical accounting papers and accounting memos for significant transactions and judgmental accounting matters.
- Work with Group Financial Accounting to develop and maintain Group accounting policies, with responsibility for the technical IFRS interpretation underlying those policies.
- Lead the preparation of Group financial statements and related disclosures.
- Manage Group external audit matters and discussions on significant accounting judgments.
- Review and improve the Group consolidation process, controls and reporting timelines.
- Work closely with the Systems & Transformation team to move the current manual consolidation process toward a system-based solution.
- Provide technical accounting guidance to Group and country finance teams where matters require interpretation or significant judgment.
The successful candidate:
- Qualified accountant (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Approximately 10–15 years of relevant experience, ideally combining Big 4 audit/accounting advisory experience with commercial experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and Group consolidation.
- Strong experience with multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation.
- Experience preparing technical accounting papers and consolidated financial statements.
- Strong experience managing external audit and complex accounting matters.
- Experience with ERP and consolidation systems; NetSuite experience would be an advantage.
- Hands-on and able to work through complex issues while also providing leadership and review.
