What we need:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to support handling of project delivery, construction and procurement matters relating to the development and operation of our data center facilities.

This role will be based in Singapore.

Key responsibilities:

• Advise on legal matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts, subcontractor agreements, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts.
• Advise on and manage legal risk across multiple delivery and procurement methodologies (e.g., EPC, EPCM/agency construction management, design-build, and multi-package/trade contracting), selecting and adapting contract forms and risk allocation to suit each project and market.
• Provide legal support and guidance on project delivery and procurement, including drafting and negotiating supply agreements, vendor contracts, and service agreements.
• Support development and maintenance of a suite of template contracts.
• Manage interface risk between packages and contractors on the same site.
• Advise on joint venture, consortium, and special purpose vehicle structures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, engineering, operations, and finance teams, to ensure legal compliance and mitigate project delivery risks.
• Provide legal opinions and advice on regulatory compliance matters, including health and safety, environmental, and planning/building regulations.
• Manage outside counsel and legal service providers.
• Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and templates to streamline contracting processes and ensure consistency across the organization.

The successful candidate:

• Qualified lawyer with admission to practice law in Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
• 10-15 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in construction law, preferably with experience in the data center or technology industry.
• Demonstrated experience advising on a range of procurement and delivery methodologies (EPC, EPCM, design-build, multi-package/trade contracting) for large-scale infrastructure or data center projects.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills, with a proven ability to handle complex transactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to provide practical and commercially-oriented legal solutions.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in English is required, with fluency in Mandarin or other Asian languages being an advantage.
• Prior experience working in-house or in a law firm supporting clients in the data center, technology, or telecommunications industries, with a focus on construction, procurement and project delivery matters.
• Experience delivering hyperscale data center programs across multiple markets/jurisdictions using varied procurement strategies.
• Familiarity with industry-standard construction contracts and best practices in the data center and technology sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and rapidly-evolving industry.
