What we need:

 

Reporting to the Facility manager of infrastructure operations, this role will develop global Building Management System (BMS) network monitoring, controls and energy management system to be able to optimise data centre operation and facilities management globally. This role will be based in Japan.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Supervise BMS operational maintenance work and renewal construction work with vendors
  • Assist in the design phase, construction phase and commissioning phase for new datacenter
  • Manage multiple data centers to align with whole BMS control system and monitoring
  • Review and manage all design documentation for ACMV, HVAC and Control system
  • Able to understand and assess drawings, plans, specifications and other documents relating to BMS /Control Projects
  • Familiar with standard calculation heating/cooling load, equipment sizing (MV& AHU), Electrical load and PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in BMS / Controls
  • Recommend BMS replacement strategy (if required) and implementation approach with no or minimal disruption to infrastructure alarms monitoring
  • Automate BMS data upload to Digital Edge Platform Reporting System to prioritise and group critical Infrastructure alerts and send to Global Operations Center
  • Execute one or more data centre automation projects in parallel and ensure completion of the project promptly and within the budget
  • Familiar with Network configuration, troubleshooting and industrial communication protocols, like Bacnet, Modbus, OPC or SNMP
  • Work with multiple internal teams (DC operations, DC Engineering, Logistics, Security, Projects etc.) and be a good team player
  • Perform preliminary energy audits and analysis on data of major consuming equipment or system; and provide recommendations on potential energy conservation measures, opportunities and financial assessments on an annual basis
  • Actively champion and implement policies and procedures for occupational health & safety in the workplace, information security management, environmental management systems; incident management; and comply with all legal regulatory requirements of the organization.

 

The successful candidate:

 

  • Diploma / bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the Data Centre operations field
  • Knowledge of Date center infrastructure facilities equivalent to CDCP or CDFOM
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and ability to manage cross-cultural environment/ language barriers
  • Leadership skills and ability to lead a project
  • Self-motivated, independent, positive, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Intermediate English level and fluent Japanese language level
  • Good understanding and knowledge in Building Automation
  • Experienced in Networking and troubleshooting
  • Ability to respond to issues and provide timely updates and escalations if needed
  • Experienced in working within a large scale critical environment is a plus
