What we need:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Construction and Operations, the Senior Power Procurement Specialist will spearhead the integration of renewable energy solutions, manage electricity procurement processes, and negotiate power contracts across our operations in Asia. The role demands proficiency in acquiring renewable energy through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs), and other innovative structures. This position is based in Singapore.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the adoption of energy solutions, including PPAs, VPPAs, and other energy procurement instruments, to support and achieve sustainability targets.
- Develop and implement comprehensive power procurement strategies for electricity supply across multiple Asian markets.
- Negotiate electricity supply agreements with utility providers, ensuring cost-efficiency, reliability, and favorable terms for the company.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align energy procurement strategies with operational goals and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) objectives.
- Monitor and analyze energy markets to identify cost-saving opportunities and stay abreast of emerging trends in renewable energy – including developing a sustainability road map for energy transition.
- Build and maintain relationships with energy suppliers, renewable energy developers, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure strict compliance with energy procurement policies, regulations, and sustainability standards.
- Track and report on energy procurement performance metrics, including cost savings and renewable energy adoption rates.
- Provide guidance and support to local operations teams on energy-related issues.
- Assist business development team with site selection, due diligence, and site acquisition negotiations including supporting on securing energy quota for development projects.
- Collaborate with the hyperscale sales team to negotiate renewable energy commitments with customers and ensuring the delivery of all customer commitments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Actively champion and implement policies and procedures for occupational health & safety in the workplace, information security management, environmental management systems; incident management; and comply with all legal regulatory requirements of the organization.
The successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Energy Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in electricity procurement, energy negotiations, and renewable energy acquisition within the Asia Pacific region.
- Proven expertise in structuring and negotiating PPAs, VPPAs, and other renewable energy instruments.
- Strong knowledge of energy markets, regulations, and sustainability practices in the Asia Pacific region.
