What we need:

The Senior Director is the regional authority and executive owner for:

  • Critical infrastructure maintenance strategy
  • Live Data Center(DC) Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) upgrading, expansion, and replacement works
  • Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and energy performance
  • Maintenance CapEx and OpEx planning, tracking, and governance

 

The role ensures that Digital Edge’s operating DC(s) remain resilient, efficient, and upgradeable while live, balancing availability risk, lifecycle cost, and long-term asset value.

 

This position provides technical leadership, governance discipline, and financial stewardship across multiple countries, while leading the team, who is responsible for Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Incident Management. The role reports to Vice President, Infrastructure Operations and based in Singapore

 

Key responsibilities:

1. Regional Maintenance Strategy & Standards

  • Own the regional maintenance framework covering:
    • Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Protection, Controls, and BMS systems
  • Define and govern:
    • Maintenance scope and frequency
    • Risk-based maintenance strategies
    • Deferred maintenance justifications
  • Ensure consistency between:
    • Uptime requirements
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Cost efficiency

 

2. Live Data Center MEP Upgrade & Expansion Leadership (Key Differentiator)

  • Act as the regional technical authority for:
    • MEP system upgrades
    • Capacity expansion
    • Infrastructure refurbishment in LIVE DC environments
  • Govern and approve:
    • Live-site MOPs and sequencing
    • Risk assessments and mitigation plans
    • Temporary works and redundancy strategies
  • Partner with Operations, Projects, and Vendors to ensure:
    • Zero-impact execution
    • Compliance with CAB and change governance
    • Leverage best practices from banking, telco, and hyperscale live DC upgrade experience

 

3. Change, Incident & Operational Risk Governance

  • Provide executive oversight of:
    • Change Advisory Board (CAB) framework
    • High-risk maintenance and upgrade activities
  • Act as escalation authority for:
    • Major incidents
    • Near-misses
    • Repeat failure trends
  • Ensure strong Root Cause Analysis (RCA) discipline and systemic risk elimination

 

4. PUE & Energy Performance Ownership

  • Own regional PUE methodology, reporting, and governance
  • Drive continuous improvement programs including:
    • Cooling optimization
    • Electrical loss reduction
    • Controls and automation enhancements
  • Sponsor energy efficiency initiatives aligned with ESG and investor expectations

 

5. Maintenance CapEx & OpEx Management (Explicit Financial Accountability)

  • Own and govern regional Maintenance CapEx and OpEx for infrastructure assets
  • Establish frameworks for:
    • Asset lifecycle planning
    • Refurbishment vs replacement decisions
    • Risk-based CapEx prioritization
  • Track and report:
    • Budget vs actuals
    • Cost drivers and variances
    • Long-term financial exposure
  • Partner with Finance and Country Ops to ensure:
    • Budget discipline
    • Transparency for investors and leadership
    • Alignment with 5-year maintenance planning

 

6. Asset Lifecycle & Reliability Engineering

  • Define asset lifecycle strategies for critical infrastructure
  • Apply reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles
  • Ensure decisions are supported by:
    • Condition assessments
    • Failure data
    • Operational risk analysis

 

7. Vendor, Consultant & OEM Governance

  • Own regional vendor strategy for:
    • Maintenance services
    • Live DC upgrade specialists
    • OEMs and system integrators
  • Govern vendor performance, SLAs, and commercial accountability
  • Support Legal and Procurement on MSAs and SLA structures

 

8. Compliance, Certification & ESG Enablement

  • Executive sponsor for:
    • ISO / SS 50001
    • Green Mark for Data Centres
    • Other market-specific certifications
  • Ensure maintenance and upgrade practices support:
    • Regulatory compliance
    • ESG and sustainability goals
    • Customer and investor assurance

 

The successful candidate:

 

  1. Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (PE preferred)
  • Formal training in project management, asset management, or energy systems is an advantage
  • 20+ years in:
    • Data center MEP systems
    • Live DC upgrading and expansion
    • Critical facilities construction and operations
  • Proven leadership in:
    • Enterprise/Colo data centers
    • Multi-site infrastructure portfolios
  • Strong exposure to:
    • CapEx & OpEx ownership
    • Vendor and consultant management
    • High-risk live environment execution
  • Core Strengths
    • Deep MEP technical authority
    • Calm, methodical leadership in live environments
    • Strong financial and commercial acumen
    • High credibility with operators, engineers, and executives
    • Ability to bridge operations, projects, and finance
