About the role
The Security Manager is Digital Edge’s on-site owner of physical security delivery for a single building, running its guard-force posture, access processes and first response and keeping the evidence trail hyperscale customers expect. Reporting to the Campus Security Manager where appointed, otherwise to the Director, Physical Security Operations, with a dotted-line report to the Head of Security Operations where appointed, otherwise to the Head of Data Center Operations in country, the role applies the regional security standard at the building.
The role sits in the Detect & Respond element of the Prevent / Detect & Respond / Prove & Improve control loop. The Security Manager executes post orders, staffing standards and incident doctrine set centrally and holds execution and evidence accountability for the building. The solid line holds standards, performance and incident command, and the dotted line aligns daily priorities. Standard-setting, vendor contracts, monitoring and command, systems configuration and independent assurance remain with the regional directorates.
The Security Manager partners with the Campus Security Manager, the SOC, Guard Force Management, Incident Response & Investigations, the Security Systems Engineer, Data Center Operations, Engineering Operations, Client Operations, Construction, EHS, Operations Procurement and Corporate IT / Security, which retain their own authority. This is a single-building role: the Security Manager does not own cybersecurity, life safety, plant operation, capital delivery, security monitoring and command, the design and configuration of security systems or independent assurance. Scope will continue to evolve as the hyperscale footprint matures, and the successful candidate should be equally comfortable shaping local practice and executing it.
Key responsibilities
• Own physical security delivery for the building, applying post orders, staffing standards and incident doctrine against the targets set by Guard Force Management.
• Supervise the contracted guard force and monitoring vendors on site, checking post compliance and drills, and report vendor performance upward.
• Lead the building’s security officers, setting clear priorities and expectations.
• Administer building access to the regional standard, including visitor, contractor and customer access, and escalate exceptions to the Campus Security Manager or Physical Security Operations.
• Act as on-scene security lead for incidents at the building, securing the scene, working with the SOC, which declares and commands, handing investigation to Incident Response & Investigations and escalating cross-building matters to the Campus Security Manager.
• Apply compensating measures such as extra posts when security systems are degraded, and report the fault to the Security Systems Engineer.
• Run security drills with EHS and Data Center Operations, and close the actions arising.
• Maintain security logs, visitor records, incident reports, operational contacts with local authorities and building management, and the building evidence set for audits.
• Close assigned audit findings on time, with evidence available for independent verification.
• Support design reviews, installation and testing for new halls and fit-outs, and provide readiness evidence, including post orders and guard mobilization, for the Director’s handover certification.
• Align daily site priorities with the Head of Security Operations (or, where none is appointed, the Head of Data Center Operations), and support Client Operations on customer security requests at the building.
• Report incidents, guard-force performance and building risks up the reporting line, and raise risks to Security Governance & Risk.
• Champion organization-wide compliance with policies and procedures for information security, health and safety, environmental management, incident management and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate
• 7+ years of physical security or critical infrastructure protection experience, including 3+ years leading security teams or managing contracted guard forces.
• Experience running security for a mission-critical facility such as a data center, including access and visitor management.
• Proven experience supervising outsourced guard-force and monitoring vendors on site, including drills and SLAs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead first response and on-scene coordination of security incidents, including evidence preservation.
• Working knowledge of access control, CCTV and intrusion detection systems and of operating when systems are degraded.
• Experience supporting commissioning, handover and readiness for new facilities or fit-outs.
• Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2 and PCI DSS evidence requests.
• Proven stakeholder skills with customers, contractors and local authorities.
• Must have fluency in English (spoken and written) and the local language.
• Comfortable in an evolving operating model and willing to be on call.
