What we need:

The Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on technical role embedded within the in-country project team, responsible for providing mechanical engineering oversight across the full project lifecycle – from pre-construction design support through construction QA/QC and testing & commissioning (T&C).

Reporting to the in-country Project Director, this role acts as the owner’s on-site mechanical representative, ensuring that all mechanical systems are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with Digital Edge’s technical standards, customer requirements, and Ready-for-Service (RFS) milestones.

During pre-construction, the Mechanical Engineer supports design delivery by reviewing engineering deliverables and coordinating with consultants. During construction, the role shifts to a QA/QC function – the most critical phase – overseeing mechanical installation quality, progress, and safety. During T&C, the role provides direct hands-on support for integrated systems testing, commissioning sequences, and handover readiness for all cooling and mechanical systems.

This role will be based in Chonburi, Thailand.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction & Design Support

  • Review and provide technical input on mechanical design deliverables (concept, schematic, detailed design, and IFC drawings) to ensure alignment with Digital Edge standards and the Hypercore reference design.
  • Coordinate with the platform Design Delivery team and external consultants to resolve design queries, RFIs, and value engineering proposals relating to mechanical scope.
  • Support constructability reviews for mechanical systems, identifying potential clashes, sequencing issues, and long-lead procurement dependencies (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps).
  • Participate in design review gates and provide field-informed feedback to improve design quality and buildability.

Construction Execution – QA/QC (Primary Focus)

  • Act as the owner’s mechanical representative on site, providing day-to-day oversight of all mechanical installation works.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections across all mechanical systems – including chilled water plant, CRAC/CRAH units, free cooling systems, pumps, piping, ductwork, fire protection (sprinkler/gas suppression), and plumbing.
  • Monitor mechanical installation progress against the critical path schedule, flagging deviations and driving recovery actions.
  • Verify contractor compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and technical specifications.
  • Witness and validate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for critical mechanical equipment where required.
  • Enforce site safety standards and proper installation practices for all mechanical trades, ensuring compliance with Digital Edge HSE requirements.
  • Identify and escalate workmanship deficiencies, non-conformances, and design conflicts early, coordinating resolution with the Project Manager and Design Delivery team.
  • Maintain weekly reporting on mechanical quality status, installation readiness, and risk items to the Project Manager.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover (Primary Focus)

  • Support and coordinate all T&C activities for mechanical systems, working closely with the platform T&C team and specialist commissioning contractors.
  • Review and validate Sequence of Operations (SOO), commissioning scripts, and test procedures for cooling and mechanical fire protection systems.
  • Witness and document integrated systems testing (IST), load bank–supported cooling tests, and failover/redundancy validation for mechanical plant.
  • Ensure all mechanical punch list items and defects are tracked, resolved, and closed out prior to customer handover.
  • Support preparation of as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and commissioning records for handover to Operations.
  • Drive readiness for customer handover aligned with technical specifications, SLAs, and business RFS milestones.

Stakeholder & Coordination

  • Work closely with the Project Manager on day-to-day site coordination, contractor management, and progress reporting.
  • Coordinate with the platform Design Delivery team on design clarifications, change orders, and technical queries during construction.
  • Interface with mechanical contractors, equipment vendors, and commissioning agents to ensure alignment on quality, schedule, and technical requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships with local authorities, utility providers, and inspection bodies as required.

Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for large-scale construction projects, preferably data centres or mission-critical facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in on-site QA/QC or construction supervision roles for mechanical systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of data centre cooling systems (chilled water, CRAC/CRAH, free cooling, chillers, pumps) and fire protection/plumbing systems.
  • Hands-on experience supporting testing & commissioning activities, including IST, load bank, and failover testing for mechanical plant.
  • Familiarity with international standards and codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, ISO) and local regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and Excel.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification is advantageous.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to coordinate across internal teams, contractors, and consultants in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
  • Proficiency in Thai and English are required.

If you’re ready to help shape the next phase of a fast‑growing digital infrastructure platform, we’d like to hear from you.
