What we need:

 

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing implementation projects and project workstreams, ensuring activities are delivered within agreed scope, timelines, budget, quality standards, and requirements. The role requires strong project management, stakeholder management, communication, and execution skills in fast-paced environments such as data center fit-out, infrastructure deployment, capacity expansion, and technology implementation initiatives.

 

This role reports to the Operations Director, Japan, and is based in Tokyo, Japan.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Own the successful delivery of implementation projects from planning through execution, testing, handover, and project closure
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, risk registers, issue logs, action trackers, and status reporting mechanisms
  • Oversee project scope, deliverables, timelines, and dependencies to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, operations, procurement, vendors, and customer stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all projects throughout the project lifecycle
  • Conduct regular project reviews with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project objectives, milestones, and expectations
  • Identify project risks and issues, develop mitigation plans, and drive resolution through appropriate escalation channels
  • Monitor project budgets, cost forecasts, purchase requests, and financial updates in collaboration with relevant teams
  • Oversee vendor performance, work progress, documentation requirements, and project handover activities
  • Prepare and deliver project updates, executive summaries, and management reports to internal stakeholders and leadership
  • Support capacity expansion, retrofit, and infrastructure projects while ensuring minimal impact to ongoing operations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, regulatory, and company standards and processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery efficiency and customer experience
  • Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements. 

 

The successful candidate:

  • 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, project management, customer implementation, or operations support, preferably in data centers, infrastructure, technology, telecommunications, or construction-related environments
  • Experience supporting projects with defined scope, schedule, deliverables, and stakeholder requirements
  • Basic working knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and documentation practices
  • Strong organization, communication, coordination, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers in a professional manner
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, seek guidance, and escalate appropriately
  • Collaborative personality and able to build strong personal relationships
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail and dedication to resolving issues
  • Embrace changes
  • Native to very fluent level of Japanese and business English is essential
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment

 


Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in data center, colocation, telecommunications, IT infrastructure, or implementation projects
  • Familiarity with MEP systems, critical infrastructure, or mission-critical facilities
  • PMP, or equivalent project management training or certification
  • Experience working in international and multicultural environments
  • Basic understanding of local codes, permits, or regulatory requirements
