What we need:
Reporting to the Chief Data Center Operations Officer and dotted to Country Manager, DE Japan, this role will be the leader of the Japan DC Operations Team and is responsible for the effective operations, service uptime of the Data Centers in Japan, operational process compliance and development of the operations team. The role is required to provide recommendations and drive actions to ensure the Japan d DCs achieves it’s revenue and strategic goals, and be able to interact effectively with management, employees and customers.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a high-performing team of data center professionals for delivering data center solutions / services, providing 24/7 operations and ensure the Data Centers meet or exceed the services performance (SLA) / service Uptime targets.
- Support Sales Engineering & Product teams to meet potential customer requirement and provide custom solution designs using proven design principles, new technologies and creative approaches for key potential customers / Hyperscale deals
- Ensure effective and efficient management of day-to-day data center operations including customer ticket support and coordination with Platform teams for KPIs alignment, to measure and continuously improve service levels, incident response & escalation and operations efficiency.
- Ensure certification compliance for Operations, including ISO 27001 Information Security Management (ISM), 14001, 45001, PCI DSS,…and site Environment Health & Safety (EHS).
- Optimize the data center capacity (space, power,..) utilization and provisioning processes to speed up delivery leadtime.
- Planning, execution & tracking of data center operations budget
- Passionate about the quality of services being provided, and continuously strive to improve Customer Experience
- Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- More than 20 years of work experience in supporting a 24x7 data centre’s operations or facility management & at least 8 years in a management role
- Operational knowledge in following areas:
- electrical distribution, cooling system, fire protection & Building Management system
- Telecommunication Cabling
- Possess data centre related certifications, such as CDCP, CDCS or equivalent
- Good communication skills with ability to successfully interact with management, staff & customers
- Strong project management, trouble-shooting and organizational skills.
- Experience in telecommunications / digital infrastructure sectors is beneficial
- Financial understanding in annual budgeting, CAPEX and OPEX concepts
- A team player willing to be hands-on in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Well organized & able to think rationally during fault / issue resolution
- Fluency in English is essential
