About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Construction Project Platform, this role will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle ensuring quality, compliance with design specifications, performance requirements, and critical infrastructure standards. This role demands precision, adherence to safety standards, maintaining tight timelines, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a mission-critical facility. This role will be based in Johor, Malaysia
Key responsibilities:
- Site Supervision & Execution:
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of cooling, plumbing, fire fighting and fire suppression systems.
- Ensure alignment with Digital Edge’s design specifications and project requirements.
- Validate method statements, shop drawings and ITPs.
- Support the testing and commissioning as well as integrated system tests process.
- Ensure that planned installation activities are carried out promptly in accordance with the project’s program.
- Quality Assurance & Quality Control:
- Verify compliance with the relevant local building codes, international standards, and project specifications.
- Witness FAT and SAT as required.
- Witness and conduct inspections on mechanical installation, ensuring workmanship are as per design intent.
- Coordination & Liaison:
- Work closely with the project team, especially the MEP team to collaborate on integrated system delivery.
- Liaise with design consultants and contractors to resolve technical issues promptly.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, product certifications, and QA/QC documentation.
- Prepare weekly quality reports, and follow up on a timely manner to close out NCRs etc.
- Prepare progress reports and highlight risks impacting critical path activities.
- Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise installation and commissioning of chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, condenser water systems and associated controls.
- Coordinate mechanical system readiness for IST and client acceptance testing.
- Review TAB (Testing, Adjusting and Balancing) activities and performance validation.
- Coordinate activities with Operations Team prior to Project Turnover, including user training
The successful candidate:
- Experience: 5-10 years in mechanical engineering with site supervision (preferably with Data Centre or critical infrastructure projects). Familiar with Data Centre Uptime Institute requirements, Data Centre Commissioning Standards, energy-efficient design, and green building standards.
- Specific people skills: Good communicator, with site supervision experience, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Education level: Recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering Degree.
- Systems and Tools: Knowledge of Autodesk Forma, AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, and other relevant software.
