What we need:

Reporting to the CHRO, this role will provide the full spectrum of human resource and administrative functions for the Japan teams. The key internal customers for this role will be the Japan Country Managers. This role can be based in Tokyo.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

HR Operations

  • Manage the employee lifecycle processes from "hire to retire," achieving operational excellence in administration, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and HR data management.
  • Collaborate with the Center of Excellence for HR Operations to follow global HR processes for all employee transactions, ensuring they are fit for the local market. This includes onboarding, lifecycle events, and offboarding
  • Ensure compliance with local employment legislation in all aspects of HR operations, including templates, documents, and employee data storage

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Support the recruitment function by liaising with direct sourcing and external agencies as needed, coordinating interviews, and preparing offer proposals and employment agreements
  • Work closely with the Center of Excellence for Talent Acquisition to facilitate candidate experience

Payroll and Benefits Management

  • Maintain payroll, time-off, and employee benefits programs, ensuring local benefits, insurances, and memberships are in place and well communicated.
  • Engage with local vendors to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing

HR Business Partnering

  • Act as a member of the local market leadership team, supporting people managers and representing the HR function in decision-making regarding local market employees.
  • Provide advice and guidance on HR topics, including talent management, employee engagement, and compensation and benefits
  • Provide HR advice on people-related issues, coaching and mentoring managers on performance management, employee relations, and retention risks
  • Monitor local policies and ensure compliance with company procedures and legal regulations
  • Actively champion and increase awareness of their responsibility to occupational health & safety in the workplace, information security management, environmental management systems; and comply with all legal regulatory requirements of the organization.

 

 

The successful candidate:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Management or Human Resources
  • Seasoned and mature individual contributor with HRBP, payroll and operations experience, preferably in data centres within infrastructure/telecommunications MNCs
  • Strong demonstrable experience working in MNCs reporting to global HQ and partnering with local stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of Japan local law (Japan) and job market
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain attention to detail
  • Hands on experience in managing and navigating HRIS (e.g. Successfactor)
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English
