Reporting to the Head of Projects, this role will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle ensuring quality, compliance with design specifications, performance requirements, and critical infrastructure standards. This role demands precision, adherence to safety standards, maintaining tight timelines, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a mission-critical facility.
This role will be based at Haeundae-gu, Busan South Korea
Key responsibilities:
- Establish and manage the Health & Safety Management System for the Busan Retrofit Construction Project.
- Plan and implement site-level health & safety activities, inspections, and continuous improvement measures.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA), and manage related statutory obligations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory authorities and represent site HSE matters with contractor or project owner.
- Verify safe execution of sub-contractor and vendor activities, including minor works, within live, mission-critical environments.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe systems of work and permit-to-work controls are effectively implemented.
- Verify implementation of emergency response plans and evacuation arrangements at site level.
- Lead incident reporting and investigations, including root cause analysis and closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain emergency preparedness and support response coordination during incidents and drills.
- Actively champion and implement the organization's health & safety and environmental policies, ensuring adherence to incident reporting and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a designated Safety Manager at local construction sites, meeting statutory appointment requirements.
- Proven experience setting up and managing a Health & Safety Management System at local construction sites
- Degree or diploma in Environmental, Health & Safety or related discipline.
- Working knowledge of statutory compliance requirements, with the ability to verify compliance and respond appropriately during emergencies.
- Systems and Tools: Proficiency in MS Project and other relevant project/safety management software.
