What we need:

 

Reporting to Senior Facility manager, this role is to manage the Data Center Facilities Operations teams to ensure the most efficient utilization of the Data Center facilities resources, lowest possible operating PUE, consistent maintenance practices and service uptime of the data centers. This role will be based in Tokyo, Japan.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistency in the maintenance procedures of the DC Critical Electrical, Cooling, Fire Protection & Building Management System (BMS) infrastructure per DE maintenance policy or manufacturers’ recommendation and customer specifications (if required).
  • Perform Risk Assessment and develop appropriate method statements for critical infrastructure maintenance or infrastructure upgrade / replacement activities
  • Ensures services and activities of maintenance contractors and service providers as appropriate to DC facilities operations, maintenance, design and construction services in support of corporate and customer objectives (if required).
  • 2nd Level On-call emergency response & support as necessary to maintain the highest level of operations and availability to building systems, Electrical infrastructure efficiency & lowest possible operating PUE (through energy improvement program)
  • Maintain appropriate vendor relationships to obtain the required service support and competitive price for maintenance, repair & new installations.
  • Implement training & mentoring practices for Facilities Operations team members to ensure knowledge refresh, skills upgrade and quality results.
  • Ensure compliance of policies and procedures for occupational health & safety in the workplace, information security management, environmental management systems; incident management; and comply with all legal regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and support for the existing and new initiative certifications such as ISMS, ISO 27001, 14001 and 45001, PCI DSS, etc., development and implementation works for Digital Edge Japan, taking guidance from HQ 
  • Support Sales, Sales Engineering & Product Management team for key potential customer / Hyperscale deals.

The successful candidate:

  • More than 5 years of work experience in Data Center operations and Facilities management  
  • English language and Japanese language are business level.
  • Extensive operational knowledge of electrical distribution (e.g. switchgear, transformers, automatic transfer switch, UPS, STS, Drups, battery management systems, generators, and PDUs to the branch level), cooling system, fire protection & Building Management system.
  • Possess facility management and/or data centre related certifications, such as CDCP, CDCS or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with both internal and external customers
  • Strong project management, trouble-shooting and organizational skills.
  • Experience in telecommunications / digital infrastructure sectors, especially on the process side, is beneficial
  • A team player willing to be hands-on in a dynamic and fast paced environment
