What we need:

 

Reporting to the Facility Manager in Japan, this role will develop, implement and support data operations processes and procedures to deliver operational consistency. This role will be based in Tokyo, Japan.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Data Center capacity management (Space & Power) – optimise the assignment, utilization and reporting on data center space & power resources
  • Security Operations – define the security procedures and maintenance of security systems in the data center
  • Incident Management – define the Fault Response, Fault severity, Service Impact assessment & Management Escalation workflow
  • Management Reports – Consolidate the DC Operations performance reports and other performance reports as required by Management
  • Certification Program – knowledge or experience of Certification programs e.g. ISO 27001, 14001, 45001, with the consultant & implement the programs through the DC Operations
  • Supervise operational maintenance work and renewal construction work with vendors
  • Manage landlord meetings and inquiry related to the Data center operation
  • Manage routine maintenance and emergency services, scheduling on a variety of critical systems such as: Electrical facility, Mechanical facility, security system and fire system, etc
  • Establish documentation of SOP, MOP, EOP and required documents related the DE’s DC facility operation and management
  • Manage COLO/DC to resolve of any infrastructure engineering issues
  • Assist in the design phase, construction phase and commissioning phase for new data centers
  • Manage all utilities contract for data center building and multiple data centers to align with comprehensive operation and management
  • Manage procurement of renewal energy and understand deep knowledge of renewal energy trade and types
  • Assist legal document submission like energy law and electricity business act, global warming countermeasure in Tokyo metropolitan code
  • Assist PUE improvement, operation cost, vendor routine maintenance cost or any other items related to data center with maintenance and operation vendor etc.
  • Vendor Diversity Management – develop and implement dual qualified vendors approach for key data center works / products e.g. racks, cabling works to ensure shorter delivery lead time & price competitiveness
  • Actively champion and implement policies and procedures for occupational health & safety in the workplace, information security management, environmental management systems; incident management; and comply with all legal regulatory requirements of the organization.

 

 

The successful candidate:

 

  • Diploma / bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience in data center facility management and operation or equivalent to  DC critical facility management or operation.
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and ability to manage across cultural / language barriers
  • Leadership skills and ability to lead a project.
  • Good project management and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Date center infrastructure facilities equivalent to CDCP or CDFOM.
  • Preferred national license holder related to the DC infrastructure, Qualified Person for Energy Management or the second-class chief electric engineer.
  • Self-motivated, positive, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Over Intermediate English level and Japanese language is native level.
