What we need:

 

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Facility Engineer will support the planning, operations & maintenance of the data center mission critical Infrastructure/ Facility, documentation of operational procedures and the efficient utilization of facilities, equipment, and operational resources. As a key member of the Facility Team, the Facility Engineer is to ensure quality results. The role ensures effective oversight of the uptime of the facilities, lowest possible PUE, all contractor activities and maintains fiscal responsibility of projects and required maintenance practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Data Center (DC) meet or exceed the services (power, temperature, relative humidity) performance & Uptime target.
  • Ensure the DC critical systems e.g.  Electrical, Cooling, Fire Protection & Building Management System (BMS) are operating in healthy state and providing the lowest possible PUE.
  • Support initiatives to improve facility energy efficiency, PUE performance and sustainability objectives.
  • Implement the MEP maintenance and monitoring policy,
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation including SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, as-built drawings, maintenance records, asset registers and engineering reports.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors performing maintenance, installation and repair works to ensure compliance with Digital Edge standards, safety requirements and operational procedures.
  • Ensure DC operations are certification compliance for Information Security Management (ISM), Environment, Health & Safety (EHS).
  • Promote and actively participate in safety programs, toolbox meetings, permit-to-work processes and contractor safety management.
  • Support customer audits, technical inquiries, site visits and customer incident communications to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Support Change Management processes by reviewing MOPs, SOPs, EOPs and conducting risk assessments for maintenance and operational activities.
  • Participate in Infrastructure/ Facility incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Respond to Infrastructure/ Facility alarms, faults and incidents, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to restore services within defined SLA requirements.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and support crisis management during critical facility events.
  • Participate in after-hours support, on-call roster and emergency response activities as required to support 24x7 data center operations.
  • Utilize and maintain monitoring platforms including BMS, EPMS and other operational monitoring tools to proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Support capacity management activities including power, cooling and space utilization monitoring to ensure efficient deployment of customer loads.
  • Support design review, construction, testing & commissioning activities for capacity expansion, infrastructure upgrades and new technology deployments.

Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

 

The successful candidate:

  • 3+ years of experience in data centers or other mission-critical environments such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, telecommunications, power generation, airports, hospitals or similar critical infrastructure facilities.
  • Business-level Japanese and English communication skills are preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with both internal members and vendors.
  • Electrical, Fire, Mechanical engineer certification, CDCP or CDFOM is preferable.
  • Diploma / bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferable.
  • The successful candidate will develop into a trusted facility operations professional capable of independently managing maintenance activities, vendor coordination, incident response and operational improvements across Digital Edge's mission-critical facilities
