What we need:

The Engineer, Project Delivery is a hands-on technical role embedded within the in-country construction team, responsible for providing civil and structural engineering oversight across the full project lifecycle – from pre-construction design support through construction QA/QC to structural completion, building envelope close-out and handover.

Reporting to the in-country Project Director, this role acts as the owner’s on-site C&S representative, ensuring that all civil and structural works are designed, constructed, verified and closed out in accordance with Digital Edge’s technical standards, customer requirements, applicable local building codes, and Ready-for-Service (RFS) milestones.

During pre-construction, the Engineer, Project Delivery supports design delivery by reviewing civil and structural deliverables – including the seismic, multi-storey and high floor-loading requirements typical of mature-market data centre sites – and coordinating with consultants and statutory bodies. During construction, the role shifts to a resident engineer and QA/QC function – the most critical phase – acting as the primary in-country owner of quality and design intent for all civil and structural scope from earthworks and foundations through to structural completion. During completion and handover, the role coordinates statutory inspections and structural certification and enables timely release of work areas to follow-on MEP and fit-out trades.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction & Design Support

• Review and provide technical input on civil and structural design deliverables (concept, schematic, detailed design, and IFC drawings) – including seismic design, base isolation/damping where applicable, multi-storey structural frames and high floor-loading zones – to ensure alignment with Digital Edge standards and the Hypercore reference design.
• Coordinate with the platform Design Delivery team, the local Architect/Engineer of Record and external consultants to resolve design queries, RFIs, and value engineering proposals relating to civil and structural scope.
• Lead constructability reviews for foundations, structural frame, and building envelope, identifying potential clashes, sequencing issues, and long-lead procurement dependencies (structural steel, precast, façade).
• Support statutory approvals for civil and structural scope, including building permit and structural review submissions, coordination with local authorities and third-party structural checkers.
• Participate in design review gates and provide field-informed feedback to improve design quality and buildability.

Construction Execution – QA/QC & Resident Engineer (Primary Focus)

• Act as the owner’s C&S representative on site, providing day-to-day oversight of all civil and structural works from the earliest stage of construction.
• Conduct QA/QC inspections across all civil and structural works – including earthworks, piling and foundations, reinforced concrete works, structural steel, precast elements, building envelope/façade, waterproofing and roofing, seismic restraint and anchorage, equipment plinths and support structures, and external works/hardstand.
• Validate contractor compliance with approved method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), shop drawings, material submittals, and material test certificates (concrete, reinforcement, structural steel).
• Witness and verify critical hold points – including pile testing, major concrete pours, structural steel connection and welding inspections, and envelope water-tightness testing.
• Monitor civil and structural progress against the critical path schedule, flagging deviations and driving recovery actions.
• Conduct frequent site inspections to identify defects, workmanship issues, and design conflicts as early as possible, ahead of follow-on MEP works.
• Enforce site safety standards and proper construction practices for all civil and structural trades, ensuring compliance with Digital Edge HSE requirements and local regulations.
• Identify and escalate non-conformances (NCRs) and design conflicts early, coordinating resolution with the Project Manager and Design Delivery team.
• Maintain weekly reporting on civil/structural quality status, installation readiness, and risk items to the Head of Projects.

Structural Completion & Handover (Primary Focus)

• Coordinate structural completion and building envelope close-out to enable timely handover of work areas to MEP and fit-out trades.
• Verify structural provisions for MEP equipment installation – openings, plinths, anchor points, and floor load capacities – ahead of MEP mobilisation.
• Support load testing, structural surveys, and settlement monitoring where required by design or local authority requirements.
• Coordinate statutory completion inspections and structural certification with local authorities and third-party inspection bodies.
• Ensure all civil and structural punch list items and NCRs are tracked, resolved, and closed out ahead of downstream MEP and T&C activities.
• Support preparation of as-built documentation, structural certification records and close-out records for civil and structural scope for handover to Operations.

Stakeholder & Coordination

• Work closely with the Project Manager on day-to-day site coordination, contractor management, and progress reporting.
• Coordinate with the platform Design Delivery team on design clarifications, change orders, and technical queries during construction.
• Interface with civil/structural contractors, testing laboratories, geotechnical and structural consultants, and façade specialists to ensure alignment on quality, schedule, and technical requirements.
• Build strong working relationships with local authorities, third-party structural checkers, testing bodies, and inspection agencies as required.

Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• 8+ years of experience in civil and structural engineering for large-scale construction projects, preferably data centres or mission-critical facilities.
• Demonstrated experience in on-site QA/QC, resident engineer, or construction supervision roles for civil and structural works, ideally from early works (earthworks/piling) through structural completion.
• Strong working knowledge of foundations, reinforced concrete construction, structural steel, precast, and building envelope systems; experience with seismic design and multi-storey mission-critical structures is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with international standards and codes (ACI, BS, Eurocode, ISO) and in-depth knowledge of local building codes, statutory approval and inspection processes.
• Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and Excel.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification is advantageous.
• Strong communicator with the ability to coordinate across internal teams, contractors, consultants and authorities in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
