What we need:

 

This role serves as the Operations EHS lead for the BOM campus in India, overseeing EHS performance across live and transitioning data center facilities.

 

Currently operating one live building, the campus is expanding with additional facilities progressing toward readiness-for-service (RFS) and future developments under planning. This role ensures strong operational EHS governance as the campus scales from a single live asset to a multi-building mission-critical environment.

 

Working closely with Operations, Facility Management partners, Construction teams, and customers, this role drives safe execution, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all operational activities.

 

This role is based on-site at the Navi Mumbai campus in India.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Provide EHS leadership and oversight across live operational data center facilities in campus.
  • Ensure safe management of energized systems, maintenance activities, contractor works, and facility upgrades within mission-critical environments.
  • Support safe transition from construction to operations, including participation in RFS reviews and operational readiness assessments.
  • Oversee operational risk assessments and safe systems of work for maintenance, testing, commissioning, and vendor activities.
  • Manage and monitor FM partners, service providers, and contractors to ensure compliance with corporate EHS standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or review incident investigations within operational environments, ensuring prompt reporting and effective corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify operational compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor operational EHS performance indicators and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain campus emergency response readiness, including drills and coordination with local authorities.
  • Serve as the EHS interface for customers during operational audits and safety walkthroughs.
  • Support ISO management systems implementation and external audit activities (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Foster a strong operational safety culture by reinforcing disciplined execution and clear expectations of safe performance.
  • Actively champion and implement the organizations policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate:

  • Degree or diploma in Environmental, Health & Safety or related discipline, with recognized certifications (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • 812 years of EHS experience, including significant exposure to operational or mission-critical facilities (data centers, industrial plants, energy, or similar environments).
  • Strong knowledge of Indian regulatory requirements applicable to operational facilities.
  • Experience managing EHS in live, energized environments with multiple contractors and service providers.
  • Comfortable working in mission-critical settings where reliability and uptime are paramount.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with customers and senior site leadership.
  • Fluent in English; Hindi or regional language capability is an advantage.
