What we need:
Reporting to the Head of IT and Innovations, the Director of IT PMO will be a strategic leader responsible for building, maturing, and leading the PMO function. This individual will define and standardize project management practices, ensure the successful delivery of our business application implementation portfolio, and drive alignment between technology projects and key business objectives. You will be a player-coach, providing direct leadership to a team of Project/Program Managers while also serving as a key advisor to senior leadership. This role will be based in Hong Kong.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Governance:
- Establish and champion the vision, mission, and objectives of the PMO.
- Lead business stakeholders, IT leads and vendors to align with outcome objectives of IT projects such as Salesforce, NetSuite, etc.
- Work closely with IT Business Analysts to clearly define functional and technical requirements as well as integration requirements.
- Implement, and continuously improve standardized project management methodologies, processes, tools, and templates (e.g., Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall) tailored for software implementation.
- Define and govern project portfolio management processes, including intake, prioritization, resource allocation, and strategic alignment.
- Provide executive-level reporting and dashboards on portfolio health, resource utilization, budgets, risks, and strategic benefits realization.
- Portfolio & Program Delivery:
- Oversee the entire portfolio of business application and software implementation projects, from conception to deployment and hyper-care, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Directly manage high-risk, high-visibility strategic programs.
- Ensure robust project planning, including realistic scope definition, detailed scheduling, budgetary planning, and resource forecasting.
- Implement and manage a consistent risk and issue management framework, proactively identifying and mitigating obstacles to success.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the PMO.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for the PMO team.
- Promote professional development and ensure the team stays current with industry best practices.
- Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Act as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor for C-level executives and business stakeholders on all matters related to the implementation portfolio.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between technical teams, business units, and external vendors/implementation partners.
- Manage expectations and ensure transparent communication of project status, dependencies, and decisions across all levels of the organization.
- Vendor & Tool Management:
- Manage relationships with key software vendors and system integration partners.
- Manage the roadmap and development of Salesforce, NetSuite, OneStream and Odoo
- Evaluate, select, and manage enterprise-grade PMO tools (e.g., Jira Align, Asana, Smartsheet, MS Project) to enhance visibility and efficiency.
- Actively champion and comply with policies and procedures related to workplace health & safety, information security, environmental, quality, and energy management systems, incident management, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. MBA or Master’s degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in project/program management, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role establishing or leading a PMO.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering a large portfolio of complex software implementation projects (e.g., ERP, CRM, SaaS platforms).
- Deep expertise in multiple project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Exceptional financial acumen with experience managing multi-million dollar project budgets.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, negotiation, and conflict resolution at the executive level.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for a non-technical audience.
