What we need:

We are seeking a Director, Design Delivery with a strong background in either mechanical or electrical engineering to lead the end-to-end design execution of mission-critical data centre infrastructure across the North Asia region. This senior leadership role will own the integrated design delivery process from early concept through construction, driving consistency, technical excellence, and innovation across a growing portfolio of hyperscale and enterprise-grade data centre projects.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise (preferably in mechanical or electrical systems), strong leadership across multidisciplinary teams, and a track record of executing complex data centre designs at scale. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, design consultants, construction teams, and strategic partners to ensure project success in terms of quality, performance, time, and cost.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the overall MEP design strategy for assigned data centre projects across the region, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and technical rigor.
  • Own the mechanical and electrical discipline leadership, including chilled water systems, HVAC, liquid cooling, or power distribution, UPS, and MV/LV systems.

Cross-Disciplinary Design Integration

  • Champion seamless coordination between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, structural, and security disciplines.
  • Drive adoption of best practices, innovation, and lessons learned across the portfolio.

Design Delivery Oversight

  • Oversee the full design lifecycle from feasibility and concept through detailed design, IFC, and construction support – ensuring alignment with business goals and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and drive performance of external consultants and vendors, ensuring deliverables meet cost, quality, and schedule expectations.

Design Governance & Standardization

  • Establish and enforce internal design governance, including design reviews, technical due diligence, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain and evolve internal design standards, master specifications, and reference guides to support rapid and consistent deployment.

Innovation & Future Readiness

  • Provide senior oversight and troubleshooting during construction and commissioning phases to validate that design intent is maintained.
  • Review and validate Sequence of Operations (SOO) and critical systems performance during T&C.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as a key technical voice to internal leadership, customers, and partners—articulating design strategies, decisions, risks, and value propositions clearly and confidently.

Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data centre design and delivery, including at least 5 years in hyperscale or colocation environments.
  • Proven leadership of complex, multi-disciplinary design efforts with responsibility for multiple projects across geographies.
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems including HVAC, chilled water, free cooling, UPS, MV/LV distribution, or liquid cooling.
  • Familiarity with regional APAC codes and international standards (ASHRAE, ISO, IEC, NFPA, etc.).
  • Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong communicator and influencer with the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, international environment is highly advantageous.
