What we need:

 

Reporting to the Senior Facility Manager, the Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, reliability, efficiency, compliance and continuous improvement of mission-critical data center infrastructure.

 

The Facility Manager leads a team of Facility Engineers and vendors to ensure the highest levels of availability, safety, customer satisfaction and operational excellence. The role is accountable for facility uptime, operational risk management, energy efficiency, project execution, budgeting and regulatory compliance across assigned data center facilities.

 

Key responsibilities:

  1. Operational Leadership
  • Ensure the Data Center achieves or exceeds all service availability, uptime, reliability and customer SLA commitments.
  • Own the overall health and performance of critical infrastructure including:
    Electrical Systems, Cooling Systems, Fire Protection Systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), EPMS and Monitoring Systems
  • Drive operational excellence and ensure compliance with Digital Edge operational standards.
  • Lead facility incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions and lessons learned activities.
  • Serve as escalation point during critical facility events and emergency situations.
  1. Team Management
  • Lead, develop and mentor Facility Engineers and site operations personnel.
  • Establish performance objectives and conduct employee evaluations.
  • Build a high-performance operational culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment and onboarding activities.
  1. Maintenance & Reliability
  • Develop and oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are executed in accordance with SOPs, MOPs and EOPs.
  • Review and approve operational procedures and risk assessments.
  • Manage lifecycle planning and reliability improvement initiatives for critical assets.
  1. Energy Efficiency & Sustainability
  • Drive initiatives to improve PUE and overall facility energy efficiency.
  • Support sustainability programs, carbon reduction initiatives and energy optimization projects.
  • Monitor facility performance metrics and implement continuous improvement programs.
  1. Project & Capacity Management
  • Lead capacity planning activities including power, cooling and space management.
  • Support design reviews, construction activities, testing and commissioning for:
    Capacity expansions, Infrastructure upgrades, New technology deployments
  • Coordinate stakeholders during customer fit-out projects and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Support deployment of next-generation technologies including:
    Liquid Cooling, AI-enabled operational tools, Advanced monitoring systems, Automation solutions
  1. Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with Digital Edge standards.
  • Oversee service contracts, maintenance agreements and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure all contractors follow EHS requirements, permit-to-work processes and operational procedures.
  1. Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary operational interface for customers regarding facility-related matters.
  • Support customer audits, site visits and technical discussions.
  • Provide timely customer communications during incidents and planned maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Sales, Product and Operations teams.
  1. Compliance, Risk & Governance
  • Ensure compliance with:
    Information Security Management (ISM), Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), ISO standards, Regulatory requirements, Local authority requirements
  • Manage audit readiness and support internal and external audits.
  • Lead operational risk assessments and business continuity planning activities.
  1. Financial Management
  • Prepare and manage facility operational budgets.
  • Monitor OPEX and CAPEX expenditures.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities while maintaining operational reliability.
  • Support business case development and investment planning for infrastructure improvements.
  1. Reporting
  • Prepare operational reports covering:
    Uptime performance, PUE performance, Maintenance activities, Incident management, Capacity utilization, Budget performance, Continuous improvement initiatives

 

Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

 

The successful candidate:

 

    • 5+ years of experience in data centers or other mission-critical environments such as:
      Data center, Semiconductor, Telecommunication, Power Generation, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas, Airports, Hospitals, Similar critical infrastructure facilities
    • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing technical teams and vendors.
    • Strong knowledge of mission-critical infrastructure systems including electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire protection and monitoring systems.
    • Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
    • Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills.
    • Proven experience managing critical incidents and operational risk.
    • Experience managing budgets, maintenance programs and capital projects.
    • Electrical, Mechanical or Fire Protection engineering certifications preferred.
    • CDCP, CDFOM, CDCS, Uptime ATS or equivalent certifications preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
